Job Title: Nursery Manager
Location: Just This Side of Paradise Farm

Reports To: Owner/Operations Manager
Job Summary
Just This Side of Paradise Farm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee various aspects of our wholesale nursery operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, strong leadership skills, and expertise in plant and tree care, wholesale nursery operations, and inventory management. This role involves managing daily nursery activities, ensuring plant health, supervising staff for loading and unloading inbound and outbound material and contributing to the farm’s mission. Deliver high-quality plants to our customers at an affordable price paired with exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
• Plant Care & Production: Oversee the maintenance of a diverse range of plants,
trees, and perennials ensuring optimal growth and health through proper irrigation,
fertilization, pest control, and pruning.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage plant inventory, including tracking
stock levels, ordering nursery supplies, and coordinating inbound and outbound
distribution.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate nursery staff, fostering a
collaborative and productive work environment. Schedule staff and delegate tasks effectively.
• Facility Maintenance: Ensure nursery facilities, including cold houses, irrigation
systems, and equipment, are maintained and operational.
• Customer Engagement: Assist with customer loading, provide support and advice
for nursery crew, and support sales efforts as needed.
• Sustainability Practices: Implement environmentally sustainable practices, such as
water conservation and integrated pest management, in line with the farm’s values.
• Quality Control: Ensure all plants meet quality standards for health, appearance,
and marketability.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nursery management, horticulture, or a
related field.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of plants. Pest & disease management is a plus.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Familiarity with cold house operations, irrigation systems, and nursery equipment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks
(lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing for extended periods).
• Degree or certification in horticulture preferred but not required.
• Passion for sustainable farming and plant care.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with sustainable nursery practices.
• Familiarity with local plant varieties and growing conditions.
• Basic financial acumen for budgeting, cost management, and crew hours.
• Customer service experience in a wholesale nursery or similar setting.

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Horticulturist to join our team. This role will primarily focus on assisting sales team members to support customer sales and nursery operations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with inventory maintenance and quality control, inventory signage, tree tagging, labeling, and other essential
horticultural tasks. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about plants, eager to learn, and committed to maintaining the highest customer service and standards.
Qualifications
• Passion for horticulture and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
• Basic knowledge of plant care, including watering, pruning, and pest identification
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such
as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous experience in horticulture or related field is a plus but not required.
• Bilingual is a plus but also not required.
