Nigra Inkberry Holly is a dense upright native evergreen shrub with lightly toothed dark green leaves that grow to the ground. If pollinated, the inconspicuous female flowers give way to inky-black berries that can persist well into winter. Best planted in moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils. Hollies are dioecious and need both male and female plants to produce fruit. Nigra is extremely disease and pest resistant.
