Fireworks Goldenrod is a rough hairy stemmed herbaceous perennial with sharply serrated deep green foliage. Dense plume-like panicles of tiny bright yellow flowers bloom in fall, attracting butterflies. Best color with full sun and slightly acidic moist well-drained soils. Tolerates wet soils and light shade.
Solidago rugosa is a good host plant for wildlife, providing late season nectar and pollen for native pollinators and butterflies. The foliage is eaten by several types of moth callipiters and the seeds are eaten by songbirds.
