Glowing Embers Hydrangea is a compact deciduous shrub that blooms on old wood. Its serrated dark green leaves have no fall color. The color of the large rounded panicles of mophead flowers depends on the soil PH - a deep pink in alkaline soils, while acidic soils produce vibrant red flowers. The flowers open green to white and gain its color through summer and darkens with purple tones as they fade. The flowers attract pollinators. Best bloom in partial sun and rich, moist well-drained soils.
