Silver Posie Thyme is an attractive culinary evergreen shrub that is primarily grown for its foliage used for seasoning. The dark woody stems sport whorls tiny aromatic grey-green leaves with creamy white margins and becomes tinted with warm burgundy as the weather cools. Clusters of tiny tubular lavender pink flowers bloom at the tips in late spring into summer. Grows best in full sun and loose soils with good drainage. Drought tolerant
Thyme is believed to have an affinity for the respiratory system. It is said that drinking the tea, consuming the leaf in cooking and inhaling thyme steam help ward of ailments in the lungs. This aromatic herb is also regarded to aid digestion. *
