Compact Heavenly Bamboo is a compact evergreen shrub with an upright habit that freely branches and has interesting bamboo-like foliage. This finely-textured foliage emerges with a light red tint, and in fall and winter turns red to red-bronze. White flowers bloom in late spring and are followed by bright red berries that persist into winter. The leaves and berries are highly toxic to animals. Best planted in part sun with rich, moist well-drained soils.
