Colowheel Stokes’ Aster is a fluffy compact native evergreen perennial with medium green foliage that forms a basal rosette. The cornflower-like flowers open white and gradually darkening to shades of lavender, then deep mauve with white centers. New flowers may bloom along these older flowers creating sharp contrast and continue from summer into fall. Grows best with full sun and well-drained soils. Deadheading individual spent flowers and stems can encourage additional blooms. Good drought and heat tolerance.
Stokesia laevis are a native host plant for several moths and butterflies, notably the Swallowtail Butterfly.
