Pampas Grass

Cortaderia selloana

Pampas Grass is a tall clump-forming  grass grown for its dense arching foliage and huge feathery plumes.  The silvery white plumes grown on tall erect stems in late summer and can hold through winter.  Grows best in  full sun and well-drained soils.  Tolerates drought once established.  The leaf blade edges are extremely sharp, do not plant near walking areas.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low maintenance plant.  No serious pests or diseases.  Aggressively self seeds in warm winters.  Cut foliage to grown in late winter.

LANDSCAPE USES: Accents or Group Plantings,  Borders,  Naturalized Areas,,  Rock Gardens, Privacy Screens, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Muhly Grass,  Catmint,  Stokes’ Aster
