Golden Ragwort is a perennial native with dark green heart shaped foliage with a purple hue on the underside and distinctive stem leaves. A profuse bloom of yellow daisy-like flowers bloom in summer. Grows best in moist to wet well-drained soil. Foliage makes a good groundcover.
Senecio aureus is a host plant for the Northern Metalmark Butterfly and is popular with other butterflies and bees. Foliage is mildly toxic so is left alone by mammals.
