White Bleeding Heart

Dicentra spectablis 'Alba'

White Bleeding Heart is a shade-loving herbaceous  perennial with medium green compound leaves.  Nodding puffed white heart shaped flowers with protruding white inner petals bloom on long leaning stems in spring before the foliage emerges.  Flowers best in  part shade and consistently moist rich well-drained acidic soils.  Foliage goes dormant in summer.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Intolerant of wet soils in winter and dry soils in summer.  Some susceptibility to aphids.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings,  Borders,  Woodland Gardens,  Naturalized Areas,  Wildlife Garden, Foundational Plantings, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Strawberry Foxglove ,  Lenten Rose,  Foam Flower
