Monarda 'Blue Moon'

Blue Moon Bee Balm is an upright herbaceous perennial with sturdy stems and aromatic serrated dark green foliage.  The fragrant fringe-like lavender blue flowers blooms in whorls at the top of the thick stems in summer, attracting bees and butterflies.  Best bloom in full sun and well-drained soil.  Blue Moon has improved resistance to powdery mildew.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  Root rot can be an issue in poorly-drained soils.  Susceptibility to foliar diseases increase if the soil is allowed to dry.  Watch for rust.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Naturalized Areas, Wildlife Garden, Rock Gardens, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Trumpet Vine,  Coneflower,  Butterfly Weed
