Autumn Clematis

Clematis paniculata

Autumn Clematis is a fast-growing semi-evergreen perennial vine that can be used for climbing or a groundcover and has deep green foliage.  Clusters of fragrant white pinwheel flowers coat the plant from late summer into fall and are followed by silky silver seedheads.  Grows best with partial sun on the roots and full sun on the vines, moist well-drained soils.  

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Medium Maintenance.  No serious pests or diseases.  Cut stems back in spring to maintain size. NOTE: highly aggressive self-seeder; considered invasive in some states. Wear gloves when handling.

 LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Rock Gardens, Walls and Trellises, Hedges, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Lantana,  Maiden Grass,  Wisteria
