David’s Lavender Garden Phlox is an upright perennial native to the east coast.  The stiff stems are covered with dark green toothed foliage and dense clusters of  fragrant lavender flowers that bloom from summer into fall.  Best flowering in  full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soils.  David’s Lavender has good powdery mildew resistance and does not need to be staked.

Phlox paniculata provides nectar to butterflies, skippers, Sphinx and Hummingbird moths, and hummingbirds.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Medium Maintenance.  Water regularly, but do not water from overhead or overcrowd plants to avoid powdery mildew.  Cut to ground and clean garden area in winter helps prevent mildew infection in next growing season.  Spider mites can be a problem in hot and dry climates. Taller stems may need staking. Deadheading prolongs bloom.
