Iron Butterfly Ironweed is a compact coarse herbaceous perennial with rough serrated bright green lance-like foliage on stiff upright stems. Loose terminal clusters of fluffy bright violet flowers bloom in summer before giving way to rusty seed clusters. Grows best in full sun and average to dry well-drained soils.
